After getting over my initial shock from the first book, the rest of this story became more and more intriguing and hard to put down. THE INHERITANTS is a thrilling and suspenseful fantasy novel which incorporates gritty realism in a hidden magical world. My experience as a reader with urban fantasy is limited and I am glad I could get my hands on The Inheritants Trilogy. The blood was still dripping, that night when Meredith knocked at the door, the pool seeping into the hallway being the first thing she had seen. The author set the scene with a very descriptive opener which she continued throughout the book and at times parts were quite graphic- which I loved!

After the death of her parents she refused to continue using her Inheritant powers, along with her soul mate Sloane.

An urban fantasy like no other, The Inheritants delivers adventure and magic with a realistic, gritty twist.

However, the mystery can soon be solved by the reader as the events inside the novel advances and then starts a journey of a chase and run and hide and revenge. The mulch that served as his head had tipped forward, revealing the debris of skull and brain that congealed on the wall behind him, maggots and porridge against bloodstains that appeared black in the gloom. M.Mackmurdie's literary debut, a thrilling urban fantasy that will keep you guessing until the very end. While I still feel like the first part of the story was a rough read and a few likeable male characters wouldn't have taken away from the feel that K.
