As Maia delves into the past, following in Izabela’s footsteps, she uncovers a tale of love, passion, and longing. The intertwining stories of Maia and Izabela illuminate the power of fate and the extraordinary impact of personal choices across time. Seven Sisters Book Two: The Storm Sister Every person attending a funeral has his/her own memories of the individual being laid to rest. Conversations, laughs shared, a brief aside remembered, recollections of time spent together, fragments of the whole person, but residing in the minds and hearts of family, friends and acquaintances. Never heard it put quite that way, and the idea is somehow comforting. Abi is still grieving and feeling terrible about the death of her twin sister Lucy. Bea and Ben are twins and Bea bears a striking resemblance to Abi/Lucy and they are pulled together in a powerful intimate journey. With attraction all-around and some fascinating interpersonal interactions, this book really plays on the power of complex and damaged characters. Once Abi has met with the two Twins her life will never be the same again and that's putting it lightly. This book had great potential, but tried to do too much, in my opinion--too many implausible twists, turns and wild scenarios made this a 2 star book for me. A chance meeting with a girl who bears a startling similarity to the lost twin sees Abi's life take an alarming turn in another direction. Is she moving on from her tragic past, or is this an unforeseen nexus, taking her closer to the past catastrophe that haunts her?

Electra d’Aplièse, a renowned model, appears to have a perfect life filled with beauty, fame, and fortune. However, beneath the glamorous facade, she is crumbling under the weight of immense pressure. Struggling with her father’s death, Electra turns to destructive habits like alcohol and drugs to numb her pain. Concerned for her well-being, friends and colleagues express their worries. The Sister begins in the present. Twenty-five-year old Grace Matthews is digging up an old time capsule that her and her best friend Charlie buried ten years before. It poses the perennially fascinating question of what we are capable of when under pressure. What does a good man do when he stands to lose everything? What does a good woman do when buried secrets erupt and shatter everything? Is redemption possible, and at what price? And where CAN I get those wine glasses?

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and have written what I believe is a fair and fitting review. Thanks!

What is the latest Seven Sisters book?

Star D’Aplièse finds herself at a pivotal moment in her life following the sudden loss of her beloved father, Pa Salt. Pa Salt, who adopted Star and her five sisters from different corners of the world, left each of them a clue to uncover their true heritage. However, Star, known for her enigmatic nature, is reluctant to venture beyond the safety of her close bond with her sister, CeCe. Feeling desperate for answers, she musters the courage to follow her first clue, leading her to an antiquarian bookshop in London and the start of an extraordinary journey. Though there was something of a slow start, I somehow sensed that this was just an interlude in which to catch my breath before the action really started. Other people such as Grace's grandparents, Charlie's mother, etc. were also underdeveloped. People did things that no one else in the world ever would have for no real reason at all except to make sure that this book had a "twist" as far as I can see. Tess' family and the police close the case as suicide and try to move on with their lives, coming to terms with some revelations and self questioning, however, Bea takes it upon herself to discover the real truth. Single-minded in her search for a killer, Bea moves into Tess’s apartment, and into her life (including wearing her clothes) and throws herself headlong into finding her sister’s murderer. Everyone thinks she is mad (which quite frankly she probably is), but Bea knows her sister would never have killed herself voluntarily, even under incredible tragic circumstances. I didn't like the characters and so I had no one to root for and kind of felt like they deserve anything awful that happens (I know, that is mean - but they did say it was like Gone Girl so that was at least true!)

The six D’Aplièse sisters have embarked on incredible journeys to uncover their individual heritages. However one question remains unanswered: the identity and whereabouts of the elusive seventh sister. Armed with only a clue—a picture of a star-shaped emerald ring—they embark on a global search that takes them to New Zealand, Canada, England, France, and Ireland. Their shared mission is to reunite and bring their family circle to completion. Three Hours was chosen by the Times as their thriller of the year. The obvious dislike of Dan toward Anna surprised Grace – she found herself defending Anna. But Dan’s manner continued to worry Grace; and when strange secrets began to surface plus an image of a shadowy person she kept seeing, Grace knew real fear. What was happening to her? Was she losing her mind? And what did Charlie’s last message to her mean? There were a couple of things that frustrated me, and felt a little unrealistic, but you never really know how you’re going to react in a situation until you’re living it yourself. I just kept getting frustrated that a character allowed themselves to stay within the house much longer than I believe I would. Also, when strange things began happening, making them feel crazy as things kept appearing and disappearing, would definitely be a time I’d start taking photos or screenshots as proof, even if only for my own sanity.Bits and pieces are revealed as the story flips between “then” and “now,” but getting to the truth is painful. A lot of the story felt forced, almost like things were conveniently thrown in just to keep the plot-line going.
