You will notice one thing immediately with the Klipsch R-41M. They are loud, incredibly so for their size. The 4-inch woofer made out of IMG and the 1-inch tweeter made of aluminum use their power to deliver some truly powerful sound. On the other hand, the R51M comes with all the features, R41M has to offer but it also comes with a high-powered output of up to 340W. It means these speakers are pretty efficient in handling different sounds. The overall build quality of these speakers is not going to falter, after all, it is Klipsch. The brand’s signature copper spun woofer is equipped with a 1-inch LTS aluminum tweeter. The R-41M also uses the Klipsch proprietary LTS tweeter driver, which minimizes sound distortion and increases sound quality. The tweeters consist of 1-inch aluminum.

The Klipsch R-41M does have a sensitivity of 90 dB at 1 watt, however. These speakers don’t need a ton of power to give you powerful, deep sound. This is mostly due to Klipsch making the speakers as efficient as possible through design and material choices. The Klipsch R-41M are powerful and versatile bookshelf speakers. The R-41M comes in a pair, so you get two of these speakers together. They are small yet stylish speakers designed for use in living spaces. They are also great for use as reference speakers for any type of home theatre system. The paneling on all sides is made out of MDF covers. MDF looks good and helps in reducing any excess vibrations that might bleed out from the speakers. It is also scratch-resistant. The Klipsch Reference R-41M speaker is a versatile, high-performance audio device suitable for a wide range of uses. With an RMS rated power of 50 W and a peak music power output of 200 W, this speaker delivers clear and powerful sound.Keep the speaker near the rear wall for extra bass. Horns are quite directive so that minimizes rear wall interference in the highs too. The R-41M has a straightforward yet elegant design in terms of its looks. Its wood grain vinyl, cooper woofers, and exposed fasteners all contribute to its modern but timeless appeal. The speakers are also relatively quite small in size. The minimal design will fit virtually any environment, with a textured wood vinyl finish and copper woofer that feel quite retro and timeless. The R-41M can handle up to 200W of power but can give potent sound without draining all the power out.

The frequency response of these speakers ranges from 68 Hz to 21 kHz with a sensitivity of 90dB. As you can see, at lower frequencies you will have to give up on bass as the speakers try to focus on the sound frequencies. But due to their huge size, these speakers are heavier. You will have to arrange a proper amount of space to accommodate these into your bookshelf. If you don’t have room for these in a bookshelf or on a desk, using a good quality speaker stand will be perfect, and help create a better listening experience with optimal placement. That said, the R-41M seems to be more versatile and “forgiving” as a speaker, working well in rooms of various sizes, whereas the T15’s sound is best in mid-sized rooms but gets muddy in small and large environments. The 1 inch tweeter square dome is horn loaded, a signature design choice from Klipsch. The exclusive Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) is designed to minimize distortion for enhanced, detailed performances. Material wise, the Kapton aluminium blend is an extremely light and rigid material used in the tweeter suspension to provide high efficiency and improve resolution and detail. You should also note that the speakers are designed for listening in line with the drivers. Pros and Cons Pros The R-41M is an excellent choice for people looking to add some amazing quality music and sound into their life and living spaces without breaking the bank. Design, Features, and Performance Design If this is your first step into the audiophile world, these speakers are an excellent option because they work well in most environments, are not power-draining, and offer a faithful sonic reproduction.

The robustness in materials makes sure you don’t have to deal with any unwanted resonances or distortion. But at high volumes, you may experience a little disturbance in the sound. It is something bearable for a layman but for the purists, there is an issue and the sound tells the entire story. Klipsch R-41M has a Bass Reflex type cabinet and a MDF/Wood-grain vinyl finish. Bass Reflex type loudspeakers (aka Ported, Vented or Reflex Port) have enclosures that uses a port, hole or vent cut into the cabinet. Ported designs are generally more efficient than the Sealed designs. I wouldn't buy or recommend this speaker, but to play devil's advocate, that PIR isn't as bad as I expected, and 1K peak should be fairly easy to EQ and wouldn't be the worst thing in the world as it is is fairly high Q. The elevated 2.5k peak, 3.5k dip, and shelfed up treble beyond are definitely the worst issues to my eyes. Even though they are small, the Klipsch R-41M can produce amazing high and midrange tones. While the speakers are touted as reference speakers, they do not produce a reference-grade sound quality. This is not to say that they are bad, just that they aren’t as neutral. R-41M features Single Gold Plated Binding Posts - 5-way type posts and R-51M has a Single Gold Plated Binding Posts - 5-way type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring.

Product highlights:

In the world of audio, what you are paying for is what you get. That’s why it can be hard to get affordable speakers for living spaces that don’t sound terrible. Especially so when it comes to larger pieces like bookshelf speakers. S15 features Single Gold Plated Binding Posts type posts and R-41M has a Single Gold Plated Binding Posts type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring. Reinforced MDF construction reduces cabinet vibration for less audible coloration and improved sonic accuracy. A magnetic grille covers the front of the speaker. The grille is flexible and removable. It is also strong, so you don’t need to worry about its durability too much.

Apart from that, the Tractrix Horn features these speakers to ensure better handling of high-frequency notes. And it also reduces any artificial reverb that is caused by the sound bounced off the walls. These speakers can deliver outstanding acoustics with crystal clear sound. Build Quality Klipsch R41M Compared with R41M, you will see that Klipsch has equipped with R51M quite a significant power boost. These speakers come with a total of 340W power output. And with just an increase in overall output, they also get a bigger size and that increases the prize. So primarily you are paying more for better output power, cleaner mids and highs, and overall a better listening experience for audio enthusiasts. If you can’t stretch the budget to go for something like a Klipsch RP-500SA, then the R51M is a great option. Size Klipsch R41M Again, compared to the Klipsch’s speaker, the SS-CS5 requires a more thoughtful placement in the room, as the sound changes drastically depending on the pair’s disposition. All in all, there’s no clear winner here. Additionally, the grills present on these speakers are magnetic. You can conveniently remove them if you want the more sleek and stylish copper look of these speakers on display.Note that Klipsch also have the powered R-41PM and R-51PM which don’t require a separate amp, but these speakers cost more. R-41M and R-51M As you would expect from a member of the Klipsch Reference series, the sound is much bigger and fuller than you’d expect from such tiny speakers. The update to the reference series have more powerful amps and a dynamic bass EQ feature. That means the R-41M can get louder than the older R-14M, while also benefitting from improved bass. However, they still don’t get quite as loud as the discontinued R-15Ms, which currently costs around the same. Consider the R-15Ms as an alternative to the R-41Ms. The tweeter drive also uses the Linear Travel Suspension system designed by Klipsch. This system also works in conjunction with the Tractrix square to minimize audio distortion.
